General

Q Is the pool water safe and is the water hot or cold?
A All our swimming pools are sanitised with either chlorine or salt. The chemical levels are tightly managed and recorded daily. All our pools are heated.

Q I like to listen to music while I'm exercising. Are there any audio facilities?

A We play music in the gym. You can also follow the news on the television while using some of the cardio equipment by plugging your earphones into the audio jack.

Q Why is there a 20-minute time limit on some of the cardio machines?
A Due to their popularity, some cardio machines such as treadmills have a time limit of 20 minutes during peak hours to allow us to cater fairly to all members. However, if you wish to do cardio for more than 20 minutes you are free to move consecutively to the next available machine for a further 20-minute session.

Towels

Q Do I need to bring my own towels to gym?
A Yes. Bring a small sweat towel to use while exercising. Some clubs offer towels for hire - check with your club to find out its towel policy. You should also bring your own bath towel if you are going to take a shower at the gym.

Q I currently have a towel subscription which allows me one hand towel and one large towel. Can I renew this once it has expired?
A If you have a towel subscription from one of the previous Holmes Place clubs, it will continue until the expiry date of the subscription. Once expired, you will have the option to move on to the Virgin Active towel subscription*, which is as follows:

£1 - day hire for 1 towel
£36 - 6-month towel hire (1 per visit)
£72 - 12-month towel hire (1 per visit)

*Please note that some clubs do not offer a towel hire service.

Q If I cancel my membership, will my towel subscription be refunded to me?
A Yes, if you have a towel subscription remaining at the time of cancelling your membership, it will be refunded to you.

Q If I transfer from one club to another, will my towel subscription be carried over?
A Yes, as long as your new club offers a towel service.

*Please note: We want your gym experience to be as comfortable as possible, so we spare no expense when it comes to our club facilities. But we also care for our planet. That's why we try to limit the amount of towels used in the clubs - and not because we are mean. So when you dry off, spare a thought for our planet's resources that are drying up.
