Revolutionary total body fitness tool comes to Virgin Active - MARCH 2008
Strengthening and toning every muscle in your body and core, Gymstick is the versatile and revolutionary new total body tool that can be used indoors, outdoors and in the pool. With 72 clubs nationwide, Virgin Active are to be the first Health and Fitness chain to introduce this new and unique technology to the whole of the UK.
Gymstick is designed for all ages and delivers fast results. Working every major
and minor muscle group, the non impact workout has all over fitness benefits that
include –

Gymstick – The varying strengths
Gymstick is available in four different resistance levels varying from 1-25 kilos. The resistance levels are colour coded. Green is for light resistance and is most suitable for the elderly or those who are pursuing fitness as part of a rehabilitation programme following a personal injury or accident. Blue is of medium resistance and is most ideal for junior athletes and women. Black has strong resistance and is great for fitter women, men, and professional young athletes. At the top end of the scale, there is also a silver Gymstick which is of extra strength resistance and is most suitable for fitter men and athletes.
The classes
Virgin Active will be offering three varying Gymstick classes to suit all levels and tastes –
Gymstick
This will be low impact class using Gymstick combined with other equipment
for unlimited training potential and variety. Instructor led, it will give members
the opportunity to learn the various techniques with Gymstick whilst under supervision.
Gymstick Aqua
Gymstick Aqua is to provide a new twist on Aqua training. Applying the
same tried and tested principles of the studio based Gymstick classes, Gymstick
Aqua will appeal to current Aqua participants as well as those looking to add another
dimension to the traditional resistance training workout.
Gymstick outdoor – Gymstick Nordic Walking
Gymstick have combined their revolutionary resistance based training with
the disciplines of Nordic Walking poles to create the ‘Gymstick poles’. These poles
have a patented system hidden inside whilst exercise bands are attached to the poles
to allow the easy conversion from standard Gymstick to Nordic poles. The unique
innovation allows members to switch from Nordic Walking to Gymstick at any time
allowing them to combine exercise and all over body conditioning, anywhere, at any
time.
Gymstick outdoor will become part of the menu of programmes for the new Outdoor
Active classes launching in August at Virgin Active clubs nationwide.
