Formed by Sir Richard Branson in 1970 Virgin has gone on to create more than 300 branded companies in 30 countries, employing around 50,000 people. Virgin stands for value for money, quality, innovation, fun and a sense of competitive challenge.

Two years later he set up a recording studio signing Culture Club, Mike Oldfield, the Rolling Stones and the Sex Pistols.
