Want to get a body fit for Beach Volleyball?

by Heather McKim

Were you as glued to the screen as we were watching Team GB come back to win their first round Beach Volleyball game yesterday?

Not only were Zara Dampney and Shauna Mullin playing some world class volleyball but they looked great doing it too! Their beach-worthy bodies are the result of hours of running, jumping and diving on sand courts. This sort of workout will inevitably get you the beach bum and six pack you will be proud to show off (and indeed these athletes–how itsy bitsy are those bikini bottoms?).

But how can you get that body without hitting the beach volleyball court religiously? We’ve got some expert exercises that you can do in the club to get the same results.

To get those strong toned legs try squats into a press.

For strong arms the Tricep Kick Back will tone the biggest part of your arm. Grab medium weight dumbbells and bend forward at the waist. Next extend your arms out behind you until your arms are straight and then bend your elbows back in at 90 degrees (between 10-15 reps).

For a strong core the plank will improve your stability and engage all your abdominal muscles. Or check out our core functional workout.

To work your back, hamstrings and glutes, incorporate the ultimate Proper deadlift formfunctional exercise - deadlifts - into your workout. Ask the fitness team for advice.

So what are you waiting for, get to the gym and get your own beach volleyball body!
