Last weekend was an exciting one at Virgin Active Wearside Health and Racquets club where we played host to the National Premier League Tennis finals that showcased talent from across the country.
This was Virgin Active’s first go at getting involved in the wonderful world of tennis.
With over 300 in attendance Virgin Active Warwickshire saw victory in the finals beating the Virgin Active Bromley team 4 matches to nil. Warwickshire’s decisive win was led by a stand out performance from Britain’s 4th ranked player Dan Evans along with solid match play from partner Tom Burns and team mates Maniel Bains and Marcus Willis.
To get the kids involved in the action a mini Davis Cup style tournament was held Sunday morning at the Virgin Active Club where medals and certificates were awarded by none other than Mr. Evans himself showing he’s a true credit to British Tennis in supporting the young talent in the region. With the new major addition of Racquets clubs to VA we’re looking to start from the ground up and get members on the courts and begin developing our junior academy with similar events nationwide to help our young players be the best they can.
All in all it was a great weekend for Virgin Active and the Tennis Community, we can’t wait to get back on the court again!
