Bransons Get The Record

by

Sir Richard Branson has entered the record books as the oldest person to kite-surf the English Channel - following hot on the heels of his son Sam who claimed the all-time record for the fastest crossing the day before.

It took Richard three hours, 45 minutes to become the first Guinness World Record holder for the oldest person to make the crossing by kite-surf.

The family affair saw Sam finishing the 30-mile journey in two hours and 18 minutes, 12 minutes faster than the previous record which was set in 1999.

Richard Branson Kite Surf Record Break

Richard says 'It's wonderful for the family to have set two world records in two days. I have even more respect now for Sam’s world record having taken so long myself to get across'.

The trip was made far more challenging than expected with 40 mph winds in the middle of the Channel and major waves.
