On 5th December, 255 Virgin Active health clubs and around the world pedalled in unison to take on a world record. At 6pm UK time around 7000 Virgin Active members got up on their static bikes in the UK, Australia, South Africa, Portugal, Spain and Italy.
The aim was to get the greatest number of people cycling on spinners at the same time, whilst raising money for Sparks, the children’s charity, and Macmillan.
Those pedals had to spin non-stop for 15 minutes to break the record. When our 15 minutes were up, cheers could be heard in Virgin Active clubs across the globe.
So did we do it? We’ll have to wait for the Guinness World Record folks to tell us officially once they’ve verified the results, so we’ll keep you posted.
Huge thanks to everyone who took part, and a special thank you to Andrea Bainger, the Oxford Circus club member who started it all.
