Mass workout took place on Twickenham Stadium rugby pitch

On Wednesday 30th May 2012 for the third year running, Virgin Active Classic Health Club in Twickenham hosted a mass workout on the famous turf at Twickenham Stadium ahead of it being re-laid for next season. The fun packed event saw 500 participants take part in a 60 minute circuit class, raising money for children’s charity, Sparks.

Sir Richard Branson launched the event, thanking all in attendance alongside BBC presenter Chris Hollins and fitness fan Nell McAndrew. Participants tried their hand at a number of different fitness specialities available at the UK’s leading health club chain including V-Cycle, Rip Trainer, tug of war, football skills, tennis, and Virgin Active’s brand new classes, Beaming and Puma Faas Class. Each station was run by a Virgin Active Fitness Coach to keep participants motivated and music was provided by DJ John Warren.

General Manager at The Twickenham Club by Virgin Active Classic, Joy McLoughlin said: “We were really proud to be hosting Turf’s Up for the third year running, raising over £1,000 for Virgin Active’s charity Sparks. It was a great opportunity for our members and non members to take part in this extraordinary fitness challenge on the iconic Twickenham Stadium pitch.”
