Eating Well with Kauai

28 May 2026 12:21PM by Virgin Active x Kauai

Healthy eating shouldn’t be boring – and Kauai knows that all too well. They take tricky nutrition decisions off your plate and make it quick and simple to eat healthy with a range of nutritious meals and snacks made from scratch with natural, nutritious ingredients.

To celebrate the opening of Kauai in Virgin Active Clapham (open to the public as well as to Virgin Active members) on Tuesday 26 May, plus the launch of their new summer menu, we wanted to share what it means to eat well and how to do it with Kauai.

What does eating well mean?

‘Eating well’ and ‘healthy eating’ are phrases that get thrown about a lot. But what does it actually mean to eat in this way?

Well, it’s not necessarily about focusing only on foods like fruit and veg, but eating a wide variety of colourful and nutrient-dense foods. Eating well means using food to fuel your body and mind so that you feel your best inside and out. (And yes, that means a few little treats every now and again too.)

It’s eating in a way that supports your physical health, your energy and prevents chronic diseases. But it’s also about having a positive relationship with food. This looks like mindful eating and listening to your body’s hunger cues.

How to build a balanced plate

A balanced plate that looks after your wellness should include:

  • High fibre foods, like fruits, vegetables and wholegrains, to stabilise blood sugar and regulate your digestion

  • Carbohydrates, like rice, potatoes and pasta, for energy

  • Protein, like meat, poultry, fish, eggs, dairy or plant-proteins like lentils and beans, for fullness, muscle repair and recovery

  • Fats, like extra virgin olive oil, nuts, seeds and avocado, for anti-inflammation and protecting your organs

Eating a wide variety of food in all shapes, sizes and colours will mean that you’re also getting lots of vitamins and minerals throughout your day to support your body’s essential functions and to keep you happy and healthy.

How to eat well in a rush

A busy schedule doesn’t mean that you have to skip out on a healthy meal. In fact, some of the easiest things to eat on-the-go are healthy foods, like bananas, apples and oranges. Meal prepping is one way to make healthy eating easier too when you’re in a rush, but so is stopping by Kauai for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Kauai takes simple nutrition principles and makes them tasty. Their meals are always made from responsibly-sourced whole, clean ingredients which are nutrient-dense.

Their menu offers balanced meals including overnight oats, wraps, protein-filled salads, warm bowls and smoothies. Plus, they’ve just launched their latest menu for summer 2026…

What’s new on the menu?

Kauai’s new summer menu is sunshine on a plate. Alongside all their tasty all-day breakfasts, wraps, bowls, salads, smoothies and snacks, they’ve added 7 new must-try items to their menu.
