Under new Tier 4 government guidance, we will unfortunately have to close any Virgin Active health club situated within a Tier 4 area. We’ve put together some helpful FAQs for you to let you know what happens to your membership during this time:

More space, same superior offering

As a member you’ll know our clubs are large with spacious studios and equipment zones. This means we’ve been able to adapt our club layouts and class capacities to apply social distancing without compromising your exercise experience in any way.

How we're keeping you safe

Things will have to operate a little differently to what you are used to for a while, therefore we wanted to let you know about some important changes coming to your club.

All hands on deck

Good hand hygiene is an effective measure in keeping viruses at bay and hand sanitiser stations are conveniently located throughout the club.

Taking the guesswork out of social distancing

Working out the distance you need to keep between yourself and a fellow gym-goer can be tricky, but our floor markers at reception, in the changing rooms, on the gym floor and in the studios take the guessing game out of social distancing. We have the added benefit of having spacious clubs that naturally allow for more-than-adequate personal space.

Changing room changes

The changing rooms will be a focal area for our intensive cleaning efforts. Follow our floor markers to maintain appropriate social distancing and allow yourself and your fellow members space while using the changing room facilities. Arrive dressed and ready to train if you can as this will reduce potential contact in the locker rooms. Based on the Government guidelines, signs will be posted indicating restrictions for the water fountains, steam rooms and saunas.

Using the equipment

All our equipment has been spaced accordingly or decommissioned to allow adequate distance between you and your fellow gym-goers. As we have optimised the use of all our areas in our clubs, we will ensure a consistent training experience with adequate equipment. Disinfectant spray and paper towelling are provided on the gym floor and in the studios.

Please wipe down your equipment before and after use. Small gestures make a big difference to everyone’s peace of mind in a shared space. A gym towel can spread the virus from surface to surface, so for now, please bring a single-use disposable wipe or use the paper towel provided.

Our hygiene team will be sanitising and disinfecting all equipment throughout the day.

A note on PT sessions

To protect you and our team members, we will eliminate any physical contact during personal training sessions. We have carefully marked out training spaces to make this all a little easier.

Group classes are back on the timetable

Our classes have been adapted without compromising on the great workout you expect. You can do your favourite class with fewer people per class in your dedicated space demarcated with floor markings. All classes are bookable on the app and you will need to complete the Health Declaration and book beforehand to participate. Before and after each class, our health and hygiene team will sanitise and disinfect the space and the equipment, with a focus on high-touch areas.
