Is Sound Bath Right For Me?
If you’ve never tried sound healing before, a sound bath is a brilliant way to get started. Combining deep relaxation with guided meditation set to the soothing sound of singing bowls, Sound Bath slows down your mind, soothes your nervous system and offers you space to nap without guilt.
What is a sound bath?
A sound bath is an immersive and relaxing form of sound healing which is often guided by an instructor and uses singing bowls. The aim is to bring about a sense of deep relaxation which leaves you feeling revitalised - if not, a little sleepy - after you’re finished.
You can find a Sound Bath class in almost every Virgin Active.
What happens during a Sound Bath session?
During a Sound Bath class, there’s very little expectation from you. You’ll start the class with some gentle movement before being invited to lay on your back, close your eyes and absorb the vibrations from our crystal singing bowls. There will be a short guided meditation but after that, you’re free to let your mind wander and allow your body to rest. And, if you fall asleep, that’s totally normal.
What are the benefits of Sound Bath?
It’s sometimes difficult to carve out time for rest where we commit to doing very little with our minds and bodies. Sound Bath exists to give you deep relaxation which is intentional. The result?
Reduced stress
Better sleep
More self-awareness
Improved mood and alertness
You may even find physical pain relief and reduced muscle tension.
What should I bring to a sound bath?
Even if you hadn’t planned on doing a sound bath, chances are you would already have everything you need. It’s best to be wearing comfortable clothes and to have a warm layer too because laying down for a long time can make you feel a little chilly. Apart from that, we’ve got all your mats and blankets sorted, so just bring yourself.
How often should I do Sound Bath?
There’s no recommended amount that you should try Sound Bath - a lot of it depends on how it makes you feel. The good news is that the deep relaxation and stress reduction benefits can last a long time after you leave the class.
Start with introducing a Sound Bath class once per month. Then increase it to twice per month and maybe even weekly, if it feels good for you.
