When we speak about Barrie at the club I must say that almost everyone knows him. First words that everyone says are: He kills us! And it is even worse when he knows you because he either makes you put more weight on your bar or make you do that squat even lower. Even personal trainers at the club fear him!
Jokes aside he has been an active teacher at Virgin Active Fulham for many years and he is not even considering to give his crown to anyone. Well done Barrie!
Would you like to know a little bit more about his amazing personality on these burning questions?
1. Please describe yourself in few sentences (anything you would like members to know about you)
I'm welcoming, friendly, generous to a fault. Love to socialise, theatre, cinema, dining out A LOT, love to cook, love to train, love to live life to the full and LAUGH, I've a brutal sense of humour. Conscientious, and always set a high standard.
2. What’s your favourite ’90s jam?
Being a musical connoisseur and collector that's a difficult one. For teaching, two tunes that smashed my Cardio Funk classes, were
You bring me joy -TJ Cass
What you want - UK Garage
(Cheek, who said I'm old enough to know about tunes in the 90s.)
3. What’s your favourite thing to order takeaway?
I'm not really a take out person, I'd rather eat out than take out.
4. What would your autobiography be called?
"How to do it all wrong, start all over again and do it right."
"A work in progress"
5. When it comes to making tea which answer most applies to you?

b) I’m not a one man Starbucks. Every man for himself.
c) I’ve only got two hands- so first come, first served.
6. Do you consider Monopoly to be a game that you play with friends or enemies?
Definitely a game to play with enemies. I want to see the tears in their eyes when I take all of their Mayfair property. (Bwwwwuuuaaahahahah evil laugh. )
7. What inspired you to be a fitness teacher.
Amazing inspirational teachers that I had when I was a class participant. They saw great potential in me, potential that I didn't see in myself, and encouraged me to do it. For that I'm eternally grateful.
8. Which one was your best moment in VA Fulham
I started with the company in 2001, so you can imagine there have been several optimum moments from then to now. It's hard to choose just one, but i will say, nothing beats an absolutely packed class, where everybody wants to be there, and is giving it their best. The vibe, energy and adrenalin is inexplicable.
9. Everyone has a good app idea. What’s yours?
As I get older, the app would have to be one that enabled me to train you guys to be the fittest and best you can be, whilst I lay in bed, having a spectacular breakfast . (Surely someone has to come up with this idea, SURELY????)
10.If you could steal credit for any great piece of art, song, film, book etc which one would you claim?
"Now Voyager with Bette Davis". The rebirth of a sorry downtrodden soul, who beats all the odds and emerges a strong beautiful powerful swan, surpassing all expectations, including her own.
11. What would your pet say about you if we asked for a reference?
He loves too much, cuddles too much, feeds too much, very protective, very tidy, but I wouldn't have it any other way. (He'd better not, or he's OUT)
12. What would like to say to VA Fulham members?
Any age, any level, all are welcome to come and join me for 45 mins or an hour. I'm like Marmite, you'll either love me or hate me, but what you will leave with, is a sense of what is possible. I'll always push you to your full potential, and it is my role to inspire you to want to do more and do better every time you attend. You're not competing with fellow class members, use them as inspiration. Get to understand my cruel sense of humour, it is just that, humour. Though you come in to work hard, it should still be fun, after all, it's recreation time, not another job for you, that's my job, and I love it. I give it my everything every time, as regular participants will testify. I look forward to welcoming you all over the months to come. Come in, work hard, but about all, have fun and enjoy the journey whilst creating the new wonderful you.
