New to Boxing and looking for a way to develop your skills? We’ve got just the class to get you hooking, jabbing and punching like a pro.

At Virgin Active, we offer 4 styles of Boxing:
• Boxing Foundations
• Boxing
• Boxing Bag work (selected clubs)
• Contender Boxing (seasonal competition)

But how do you know where to start and where to go if you want to work on certain areas of your fitness? Let us help you.

If you're a beginner...

If you’ve never done Boxing before, or it’s been a while since you’ve been in class, we recommend Boxing Foundations. It will help you get to grips with technique including standing position, how to throw a punch and footwork.

As in our other classes, you’ll follow a combination of punches that will challenge your coordination and help you with your all-round technique. This is a great class if you’re looking to increase your stamina and break into a little strength workout too!

If you're looking for a varied workout...

All of our Boxing classes offer varied workouts that get your heart rate pumping. In our Boxing and Boxing Bag Work classes, you’ll alternate boxing moves with a more HIIT style workout. Think: crunches, burpees, planks and even some weighted exercises, to develop your power and endurance.

If you want to build strength...

Our Boxing Bag Work classes are a great place for you to build your upper body strength. Punching our weighted aqua bags, you’ll be able to use a lot of force to deliver powerful punches. As hard as you can go, we want to see it!

Expect to feel your work in your arms, upper back and shoulders.

If you fancy more cardio...

In our Boxing classes, you’ll alternate between shadow boxing and working with focus pads. In this dynamic workout, you’ll be moving round a lot, punching targets and training your body as though you were in a fight.

It can get a little sweaty so if you’re looking for something that’s not so demanding on your strength but leaves you feeling energised, this is the Boxing class for you!

If you want to compete...

Over the past few years, we’ve been running regular competitions for first-time boxers. You’ll follow an 8-10 week programme of training in 2 coached sessions per week. You’ll learning everything from correct technique to sparring, footwork and speed with the aim of getting you ready for your first ever fight in the ring.

We’ll come down and support you on Fight Night, alongside your family and friends. It’s a brilliant evening of sporting achievement to get involved in!

We can’t wait to see you throwing some punches in our Boxing classes. Check out your club’s timetable to see when your next class is or use your multi-access to find a Boxing class at another club!
